JUST AS TRUSTWORTHY AND EXPENSIVE AS A DEALERSHIP - BRING PLENTY OF CASH!!! I brought my Audi A4 to Mark at Autoworks Colorado to repair a suspension problem and investigate an oil leak. I dropped my car off the night before the scheduled appointment, but he still didn't call me to provide a VERY INFLATED estimate until 3:30 PM the next day! He wanted $1200 to replace 5 control arms and $350 to replace the camshaft seal. He then went on to describe how almost every seal on the car needed to be replaced, which would bring the total estimate to about $2400. I decided to delay the repairs due to the HUGE estimate and get a second opinion, but when I went to pick up the car Mark wanted to charge me $73 for diagnosing the car, in spite of the fact that the estimate clearly stated (in print) that I would be charged $0 for diagnosing the vehicle. When I questioned Mark and asked him to read his own estimate, he returned my question with a blank stare and offered to apply the $73 as a credit towards any repairs - he was obviously more focused on the $$$ than a potential customer (great service strategy). Since I had wasted an entire day waiting for an INFLATED estimate, I elected to pay Mark the $73 and move on with my life - I had already invested enough time and was EXTREMELY dissatisfied with this experience. Needless to say, I brought my car to another repair shop and paid $500 to replace 3 control arms (only 3 needed to be replaced for a savings of $700) and $275 to replace the camshaft seal ($75 savings). Regarding the other fluid leaks, most seals do normally seep a little fluid after 100,000 miles, but not enough to warrant replacing all of them for $850. BOTTOM LINE: I felt Mark was trying to take advantage of my situation by telling me that I needed to replace parts that did NOT need to be replaced (more profit), using more expensive aftermarket parts in the estimate (higher markup = more profit), over-estimating and over-charging for the labor (higher labor = more profit), and clearly NOT focusing on meeting/exceeding customer expectations (he must have a lot of naive customers). If you don't mind accepting Mark's estimates at face value and being over-charged for their service, then you have nothing to worry about - I hope you enjoy donating your hard earned cash during these touch economic conditions! However, if you are seeking a repair shop that will deliver great customer service and offer a fair value, then I strongly urge you to invest your time and look elsewhere - it's your money, so choose wisely......
I love my little Audi A4 but it wasn't running properly so I found Autoworks Colorado online. I was really happy when they called me and told me it was something simple. I actually got my car back that afternoon! These guys are great and can be trusted with your car. They won't nickle and dime like other auto repair shops.
After taking my 2001 VW Jetta (Wolfsburg Edition) to the VW dealer for many years (and the fact that they're getting too expensive), I figured that it was time to find an independent auto repair shop in search of cheaper service. Well look no further VDub motorists, this is the place for service! Although I've spent a good amount of money lately for my car, these guys surely saved me A LOT of money for repairs. I probably would have gone broke by now if I didn't take my car to these guys. Man, if I knew Autoworks was around after my warranty expired, I would've taken my car to them to save money.
