I felt this place was a big letdown. The ambience is great, so I had high hopes going in. However, the food was mediocre (I've had better), the prices were too high, the service was slow, and the portions were small.
The clincher was when they charged our group for extra rice to take home with leftovers! When I asked to speak with them about this (rice is cheap, I've never been charged for take-home rice at any other Thai restaurant, plus the server didn't tell us we'd be charged for it) they fought me on it, even though I expressed I wouldn't return to a place that does this. In the end, they took off two of the three extra rice charges. The fact that they still wouldn't discount one simple charge, off a total bill of over $150 (with tip) was just ridiculous. I won't go back again, mainly over the principle of it.
Best Thai Food in Denver: I have had better Thai food, but you will not find it in Denver. Wild Ginger is a farily cozy restaurant that is busy enough to warrant reservations, getting there early or waiting it out. There are a lot of tables squirreled away here, so that is a big plus. Ther is virtually no waiting area which considering how busy it can be is a bit of a minus.
I have been to Wild Ginger a number of times and after much exploration of the menu have not found any dish to be anything but tasty. The portions are a bit small and a little spendy considering their size... but good food is worth a little more cash too.
Revisited tonight after a long hiatus. still busy but we waited maybe 15 minutes for a table. The coconut ice cream is still mind blowing.
