The cigar room in the back has the atmosphere of an old English hunt club, except that a ventilator kindly sucks out the smoke (for your health). Cigars and a limited pub menu is also available. Live music fills the air five nights a week. |

I had been going to Trios off and on for years. Always had decent food and wine. That is, until this last time. We sat down an ordered a couple of glasses...nothing special...a Spanish Granacha and a Monastrell.
The Granacha had obviously been open for awhile and the Monastrell was just and extremely poor wine (although not horrid). We took one sip and told our waitress that we were not very happy with the wines. She offered to change them out, but there was not really anything on the list that either of us felt like chancing at that point. Left her a large tip for her trouble and put our coats on.
That is when a bar tender came out and yelled at us. He said we had to pay for the wine that was ordered. I tried to explain that the wine was bad and he made a show of tasting it and declaring the wine was fine.
Everyone has different likes and dislikes, but this wine was clearly approaching the vinegar stage. And to argue with a customer is just comical.
So I paid the full bill just to have a clear conscious and left...
...never to return.
WOW!: This place is so tiny you almost miss it! From outside you would think it is closed but inside is so nice and cozy. The local jazz bands that play there are the perfect topping. The music is not over bearing, so someone who talks low (like me!) can still be heard. This is a perfect place to start or end your night.
Weekend Staple...Good Place to Chill: Trios is a great place to start the night or end the night or just hang out the whole time. Good selection of wines and a wide range of martinis, et al. Good food menu served late. My friends and I usually go for the three plate sampler. Live music has ranged from typical jazz to swing and once - heaven forbid - a polka group, but it's got a great mix, cigar dim with couches in the back, bistro-like upfront. Service is sometimes slow, but you're there to relax and hang anyway, so there's no real hurry. Nice change of pace from the Lotus scene across the street. Dress tends to be nice/casual. You won't find the techno-crazy crowd in here.
