Went to "The Palm" on Denvers 5280 week and was very disappointed. Our waiter was excellent however from being made to wait, while walkins were seated, to NO CESEAR SALAD to NO NEW YORK STEAK to the VERY NOISEY dinning area to lack of quality seating I would rate this place about a 1.5 out of 5. Save your money there are a lot of MUCH BETTER dining experiences in this wonderful city.
Upscale food, upscale service, upscale price, not upscale pretentiousness. Food is delicious; servings range from smallish to medium sized. Entree presentation, though, is usually substantial rather than a tease. The setting is neither outstanding nor disappointing. There's plenty of heavy, dark wood decking the walls and floor but at lunch or dinner there's enough energy (and often noise) to repel any potential stuffiness. That's not to say the Palm is a place to party -- it's a bit too formal for strobe lights. If that's what you're looking for, continue south.
The standout quality of the Palm is the friendly approach the staff doles out. Whether at the bar or a table, wait staff is neither apathetic nor coldly professional like what can be the case at ultra-trendy joints. Every person I've had serve me at the Palm is just plain nice yet more attentive than your average 'burb-chain steakhouse server.
The only complaint I can pinpoint is the value of what you're served, but that's a subjective measure.
Now that the Denver Palomino is no longer, the Palm rules as my choice for best crab dip and mostly-casual steakhouse for under 100 bones per person.
Tiny Treasure: It's a little place tucked away where you might not normally notice it, but the food and service are exceptional, the dishes wonderfully creative, and the bar a is a friendly place to sit and have a drink.
Highly recommended.
