| About: | A taste of New Orleans sizzling in the heart of downtown, Bayou Bob's specializes in heaping helpings of spicy Cajun and down-home comfort delights. Weekends are crowded: waits often exceed an hour, but the lively bar helps pass the time. If you find yourself having trouble deciding on one entree, try one of the combination plates. Each one comes with a wide selection of Cajun standards, ranging from Gumbo and Jambalaya to Blackened Catfish and Red Beans and Rice. This rates very high with families. |

The food was great, the service was wonderful! I had the fried gator; and it was really good! Then I had a blackened steak smothered in shrimp etouffee. Real good. There was a side of seafood (forgot the name); but it had shrimp, scallops & mushrooms. Delicious & spicy! The staff there was just wonderful. They really made me feel welcome.
Nothing out of the ordinary, but if you are looking to eat some tasty, yet greasy, food... dig in. Happy hour isn't bad, but beware of the fried pickles. Fried pickles + beer special = GOOD TIMES.
Went there for dinner last night, and honestly there was nothing special about the food we had. I'm giving it a 3 instead of a 2 because the shrimp gumbo we had was actually pretty good. The jambalaya was tasteless (it was spicy, but that's about it), and the shrimp etouffe was boring.
Also, if they ask you if you want to sit outside - don't do it unless you're ready for the onslaught of everyone from the bar smoking - apparently that doubles as the smoking area. We moved inside pretty quickly.

This review is the closest to what I experienced on my visit. This place does not even touch what Pappadaeux has to offer in taste or variety.
