I suffered a partially detached retina in February 2011 due to a tennis injury and visited Dr. Kumar at Denver Eye Surgeons. He referred me to the University of Colorado Denver Anschutz Medical Center in Aurora where I was quickly placed into surgery. My eye needed a scleral buckle and follow-up laser treatment to ensure I would not lose sight in the eye. My previously 20/20 sight ended up very nearsighted, but at least I could see.
After trying glasses and contact lenses for several months, I was just not seeing well and set up another visit with Dr. Kumar. He found the retinal surgery had resulted in significant growth in the previously small cataract in the eye, making it difficult for me to focus. There was also a good deal of astigmatism present. We scheduled a follow-up review by Dr. Oliver from the University of Colorado Denver Anschutz Medical Center. Dr. Oliver regularly visits Denver Eye Surgeons, which I found to be of comfort as well. The consensus was to replace the faulty lens. Because I had a small cataract in the other eye, I decided to replace that lens as well.
The surgeries went without a hitch. Outpatient, each procedure itself was less than ½ hour and I was seeing better immediately. I just finished my last checkup a month after the surgeries and my vision tests out at 20/20 for distance in each eye. I highly recommend Dr. Kumar and Denver Eye Surgeons. The staff and doctors are all very helpful and informative, in addition to being very skilled. I could not be more pleased with my results!
