This is one of my favorite places in Boulder the food is O.K it has always been well cooked and of good quality the menu is a bit small but it is good, mostly burgers and sandwich type food.
The beer is very good especially the Pale ales the stouts and porters are a bit bland but the Pales are spectacular. They always have a very good selection of beer usually about 10 different ones or more.
The severe is always good the wait staff is friendly and nice which is kind of rare sometimes in Boulder. They have a communal system where everyone takes turns with all the jobs so one day someone will wait tables and the next day the will cook in the kitchen and they all pool the tips together and split them at the end of the day.
The communal work system must work well because a lot of the same people have been working there for a while and they seem happy.
The only draw back I find about the Southern Sun is most times at peak hours there is a 30-45 min wait. But if youâre not starving and in a big hurry the area is not a bad place to kill 45 minutes.
I like the southern Sun a lot it is a very nice difference from a lot of the franchised chain restaurants. They atmosphere is laid back and friendly, and nice place to have a meal or hangout and drink a beer. The food is not spectacular but good average restaurant/Pub food.
