| About: | This small nook of a restaurant, which serves nothing but breakfast, is a throwback to the Eisenhower administration in both look and price. All that is missing is the Everly Brothers on the radio. Booths and classic chrome counter stools give the room its time machine look. The all-breakfast menu offers the usual morning staples of pancakes, eggs, French toast, hash browns and biscuits all at great prices. Large cheese omelets go for $5.75. Keeping with the mood of Boulder it serves organic coffee. |

User Rating: 1 out of 5 starsI decided to give Dot's Diner a chance because I saw a lot of good reviews for it. I was terribly disappointed. It was filthy, with stuff all over the floor and you could see that the grill area was even dirtier. We waited a long time for the waiter to come over. When he did finally grace us with his presence he was apathetic and seemed like he might be high. The food was decent, but definitely not healthy fair. Very greasy. And the supposed acclaimed biscuits were rubbery. We went up to the counter to check out and the gal that checked out the couple in front of us then turned her back and started cleaning jelly containers. While I agree that they definitely need to do some cleaning around the joint, it probably shouldn't be done right when a customer wants to check out. We waited at the counter for 5 minutes, with other employees walking right past us until someone finally helped us. Now I'm not fastidious by any measure, but this place was a huge disappointment. I just hope I don't get food poisoning to go along with my breakfast.

I will have to say that my attitude towards this restaurant is quite negative. I visited with my child and friend for breakfast December 30th. The waitress asked us to move when we found that we needed a high chair as we would be in a main isle. She asked us to move to the corner booth, so we did. The waiter in that section scolded us telling us that the restaurant was split up in sections, there were people waiting before us and we cound't just move where we wanted. I would have been more sympathetic of his predicament had he tried to help us resolve the situation instead of yelling at us. I was so upset we left telling him that he could give the booth to another customer. He smiled and waved goodbye to us. My office is just steps away from this restaurant, but I will have to say that I will probably never step foot in this restaurant again.

On our quest to find a great breakfast in Boulder, we stopped through Dot's today. The service was less than stellar considering we had to finally stop someone and ask who our waiter was. The food was forgettable with omelets and all of the sides on our plates. Bacon was overcooked and the biscuits were more like scones. Perhaps we didn't order the best they had but normally it is hard to be let down with an omelet. We won't go back.
