The Red Lion is an absolutely charming restaurant from the moment you walk in. Located in Boulder Canyon with great views of the mountains and even glimpses of wildlife. We were treated to deer grazing right outside our window as we enjoyed our dinner. We were greeted by Paul the Maitre'D who was very helpful throughout our visit. Our waiter, Carl was a wonderful guide explaining the many choices on the menu and the specials. We chose the wild Boar from the menu and the New Zealand Venison from the special list. Both were excellent! And, for dessert Bananas Forester prepared table side by Carl - delicious! We will be back!
We are were visiting from the east and discovered this beautiful historic restaurant nestled in the mountains just outside Boulder, Colorado. The atmosphere can't be topped. Beautiful views overlooking the mountains and a lovely stream. A second dining room feels like a Bavarian lodge with 2 charming fireplaces. The food was excellent and an amazing wine list! My wife and I both had game dishes which is the house specialty. And.. check out the bar area with it's antique potbelly stove. The staff could not be friendlier! A real find!!!
Donât waste your money
This place is not horrible it is just way over priced.
Paid about $50. a meal for a $10 quality, the soup tasted like it was from a big industrial can the bread was cheap grocery store bread and the stack was just you average steak.
For $50 you can get a 4 star meal at Red you pay $50 and get a $10 poor quality dinner type meal.
