| About: | If you've never explored Southwestern cooking, here's a good reason to start. Vail's answer to great cooking, Southwestern style, is La Montana. The restaurant serves well-known dishes, such as Guacamole dip, Fajitas and a menu full of Tex-Mex dishes, such as Enchiladas, Burritos and Tacos. Visitors should look out for the Signature Southwestern dishes on the menu, which is a great place to start your education on this region's cuisine. Grab a bite of the Stuffed Chicken breast, the Southwestern Enchilada (whose claim to fame is being featured in Gourmet Magazine) and the exotic sounding Scallop Veracruz made from glazed scallops. La Montana also has a full stock of Tequila made from 100% blue agave - so you know it's the real McCoy. |

This used to be one of the outstanding restaurants in town. Unfortunately it changed hands a couple years ago and went downhill fast. Be wary of the raving reviews, check the date.
Bad combination prices up, quantity and quality down. I couldn't believe the change on my last visit. Old favorites are no longer on the menu. I finally chose the special. The soup was thin and tasteless, the main course would have made a good appetizer.
Overpriced semi-tex-mex. Prices rise every year out of proportion with inflation. Go here when discounts are offered.
I will not frequent this place.: I had the Elk fajitas, my wife and sister-in-law had the Shrimp. The Elk was ok but the Shrimp was Awesome and both were way overpriced. I paid about $30.00 per plate. The Shrimp came with 4 Shrimp and 2 Green Beans and no other sides. The Margaritas were fine but, again overpriced. The atmosphere was nice. I probably will not return here the next time we go back to Steamboat Springs. I liked a small place on the main strip in town called "Tequilas" Their Beef Fajitas were great and the Margaritas rocked.
