I tried to eat at the Mountaineer. The waitress came over to take our orders and while taking them she was scratching her armpits. How disgusting. She forgot some of our order and when we asked her for the rest we still never received it. The food seemed to be really greasy and not very tasty.

I was visiting the Estes Park area to see a friend. While there I was introduced to the Mountaineer Restaurant for dinner. I went to that restaurant for dinner each of the four nights I stayed in Estes. The trout dinner was excellent! The service was prompt and friendly. This restaurant was top-notch and I would recommend it to ANY hungry visitor or local. Prices were definitely reasonable.

Breakfast anyone?: For me it's the Chicken Fried Steak,hash browns, eggs over medium with rye toast, thank you!

Great service and a very down home atmosphere.

Get there early on the weekends, it fills up fast, especially during tourist season.

We locals love it!
