Having recently moved from the east coast we have been very disappointed in the sushi options of NOCO. Suehiro has consistently been the best place we've been to. We had the yellowtail, hawaiian yellowtail, and the white tuna last night and it was outstanding. The complimentary miso soup is quite good and personally I enjoy the salad as well (I've noticed it is better some days then others though). I already want to go back!

For those of you who think suehiro's is poor, you have a lot to learn. I lived in Japan for 4 years and Suehiro's is the closest thing to real authentic Japanese’s food I have found in the US. The only thing they are missing is it's not in Japan.

You've got to be kidding me! I brought our Japanese friends to Suehiro's last week and they couldn't believe how terrible it was....not only the service, but the food was definitely not fresh. It was definitely not the closest thing to real authentic Japanese food...neither was the service. I'll pass next time.

I'm sorry, but this is almost comical. I lived in Japan for almost 3 years and frequently return to the country for the fine cuisine. Suehiro's wouldn't last 2 weeks in Japan, much less a month in the Bay Area, Hawaii, or other areas with a strong Japanese expat population. Suehiro's is only considered "the best sushi" in Fort Collins because it's been around for a long time and feeds off a consistent crowd of yuppie diners who started out eating sushi to be "unique" and are now riding the international sushi trend. I don't know what food you ate during your 4 years in Japan that you would draw parallels between great Japanese food and Suehiro's. Perhaps you ate too many of the bento boxes from Watson's. As for being authentic, in all of my travels across the five main islands of Japan, I didn't once discover a "Dynamite Special" (for those who haven't had the displeasure of trying one, it's a Suehiro offering of rice, jarred mayonnaise, and a lump of mystery fish all baked in a repugnant mini-casserole). I know this is a scathing review, but if you want great Japanese food, you're not going to find it in Fort Collins. Their sushi is average, the tempura is fair, the miso soup is pedestrian, and the atmosphere isn't really "Japanese" just because they play a soothing koto melody in the background and put some Japanese art in the entryway. Do yourself a favor and eat at Nimo's on West Elizabeth if you're looking for something better than Suehiro's.

Highly Recommended!: I have to disagree with the statement that Suehiro's is trendy and sub-par. The staff are great and the sushi is the best in town. I've never been disappointed!

I've been a frequent diner here for over 10 years and there is always something new to try. Whether you like to sit at the bar, at a table or in the tea room, it is always a pleasant experience.

If you have children, they even will serve a plate of tofu, which the kids really love. If you're not sure what you want and you're sitting at the bar, let the chefs make up something for you! I love Suehiro's and give them the highest compliments!
