| About: | Jay's Bistro is a locally owned business started in 1980 by Jay Witlen with his wife and partner, Jacki. From humble beginnings through the evolution of Jay's Bistro and Jazz Lounge, Jay's entrepreneurial spirit combined with Jacki's encouragement have inspired them to achieve and maintain the perfect mix of hospitality, entertainment and cuisine in their bistro for the past 28 years. The combination of personally run business and swanky atmosphere, fine tuned by a professional kitchen and service staff creates their recipe for success. Their mission was and is to do this and have fun along the way doing it! "Life is good when you share bountiful things," says Jay. |

Love to eat here!
the food no matter what you get is great!
Ate here for New Years, then added another resolution: don't return. Had the "special salad" which was about 75 cents worth of iceberg lettuce wedge, skimpy hearts of palm, overall bland and almost sad to look at, which was priced at $7 (not a great or reasonable price). The main course was risotto with wild mushroom. The mushroom was indeed so wild it was hidden under a pile of mushy risotto cheeseball that tasted as if it had been rolled in waxy mozerella cheese. Stopped after finding and devouring the shitake mushroom, the only edible part of the course. For $18 it was overpriced by $17, which was probably the cost to prepare..ahh, but the memory of leaving: priceless.
Highly Recommended: Tucked away off a shaded pedestrian plaza, the stylized "J's" etched on the windows let you know you're in for a treat as you approach the place, and they didn't disappoint. We were warmly greeted by Jacki and her staff, and they were instantly able to make a table change for us (one of our party has a back condition that precludes booths). Our server was friendly, competent, able to answer all our questions, and attentive without "hovering." In addition, another person was unobtrusively "patrolling" our area of the restaurant to refill water, remove used plates, see to more wine or cocktails, etc. Jacki came over during our meal to make sure everything was going well -- it definitely was. Our food was delicious, especialy the buffalo carpaccio and the lobster "mac & cheese" (divine!). Not only were the service and food very, very good, the physical premises are beautiful. There are romantic corners that afford some privacy, well-lit areas to hold larger groups, and cozy spaces galore. Even the tables more towards the middle of the dining room(s) are set apart by metal sculture that is an art in itself. The jazz in the background was another delightful plus. In addition, there was a record-breaking heat wave taking place at the time, and Jay's AC kept up perfectly, not too cold and not too hot (we'd sweated our way through a few other restaurants earlier in the week). We were in Fort Collins on business and found Jay's by doing our homework online. When we're in the area again, we'll defnitely be making another reservation.
