| About: | The first Leon Gessi‘s was opened in 1973 by George Valdez. The inspiration for the namesake of his pizzeria came from a French writer who wrote poems about pizza. He quickly opened two more locations which he eventually sold. The original store at Flintridge and Academy Boulevard was in time closed. The Rustic Hills location was also sold and eventually closed. The pizzeria he opened in 1978 at the intersection of Palmer Park Boulevard and Union Boulevard still remains operating after 30 years. This optimal locale is conveniently situated two miles North of the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Baseball, soccer, basketball, hockey, football, golf and track teams alike all enjoy using Leon Gessi's as a great place to meet and socialize. Romantically enough, Leon Gessi's New York Pizza® has also been known to be the site for a few marriage proposals. And let's not forget Hall of Fame pitcher, Goose Gossage, has also stopped by for his "fix" of New York pizza. Mark Jones has owned and operated Leon Gessi New York Pizza® since April 2002. Mark has a strong background in the pizza restaurant industry and found it to be the perfect match for him and his family. Mark brings over 20 years of experience operating multi-unit pizzerias from the kitchen to the back office. Mark enjoys keeping a part of the history of Colorado Springs alive and feels passionately about its fantastic product mix. Mark intends to keep this landmark thriving while also sharing its charm through franchising. A customer once said, "The more Leon Gessi New York Pizza® restaurants there arethe happier the world would be". |

If you are from the New York Metropolitan Area; welcome home. I go out of my way for the pizza. When it comes to NY style pizza nothing beats Leon's.
Everything that Leon Gessi's sells is AMAZING and at a good price! My favorite item they sell is their Chicken Sub, it is so good. It is a nice cozy little place tucked in an intersection (UNION & PALMER PARK), and it's right next to BJ Velvet Freez which is also convenient because after your pizza you can walk right next door and have the best soft-serve ice cream in Colorado Springs!
If you live near the Briargate one, I would recommend driving the extra 6 or so miles down to the one by almer Park and Union because it the original one and tastes better I think.
Say HI to Andrew for me!
I would just like to say my wife wanted a calzone well I had the Pizza Hut one and once was enough so I looked up calzones on yahoo for Colorado Springs and up popped the info for Leon Gessi Pizza, I read the reviews and they are 100% correct the calzones and Pizza are great and the Garlic Bread to.
IF YOU DONT WANT TO VISIT LEON GESSI THAN YOUR MAKING A VERY BIG MISTAKE
