I have been to amandas fonda many times. The food is good, the salsa is good, and the atmosphere is good. However!!!!! This restaurant is what it is because of the "Real Amanda" who has passed. Her 26 year old daughter is now running the show and things have changed greatly. I was there today and she was sitting at the bar getting drunk as I have seen her do many times. I have seen here treat her staff horribly.

If you want good food...you will like this place. If you want to eat at a restaurant that is run by an immature 26 yr old alcoholic who treats the employees badly then go there by all means.

    "food for thought"

The food at Amanda's is fantastic - the best Mexican food I have ever had, but the service is absolutely horrible. I was seated outside, given some chips and then proceeded to wait. I noticed servers sitting at a table talking and one was getting a neck massage. I sat there for 5 minutes with no water or service. When we complained all we got were very dirty looks from the hostess/manager and our server - even after we left a tip! I have eaten here on a few occassions and the service has progressively gotten worse. I will not return.

Ate here this past weekend. Heard great things from friends. I am open to trying it again and ordering something different, but the jury is out on that. We were seated on the patio, which is beautiful, as it is next to the creek. My friend has asthma and asked to be moved inside because there were smokers very nearby. We were put at a table near the bar next to a large party. The table was dirty and had not been wiped down yet. A host came and cleaned it for us and we sat down and waited and waited and waited. My friend went to the bar and the bartender said, "I'll be with you in a minute" as she walked away. The two servers deliberated in front of us as to whose table it was because one was leaving the floor. Finally we were waited on by a waitress. The host who cleaned the table came back to take drink orders and bring chips and salsa; IT IS DELICIOUS. We ordered the make your own combination. I ordered a chile rellano, enchilada and chicken taco. The rellano was good. The enchilada was bland tasting but very salty. The chicken taco had about three small pieces of meat the size of the tip of my pinky finger. The drinks weren't filled. The host noticed and came back to fill drinks. When the server asked how the food was, we let her know it wasn't up to par and asked if there were new cooks, as my friend had been there numerous times before. She said she didn't know because she had only been there a month. She offered to bring me chicken and I said no, you can take the plate away. I ate maybe three bites. THE CHIPS AND SALSA WERE DELICIOUS. :) If I go again, which is very doubtful, I would go for the posole. As another reviewer stated, the bathrooms are scary. The overall feeling was: we are doing you a favor by doing anything for you, so eat up and get out for another table. I wasn't impressed. At all.
