The best sushi in the southwest... Their specials every night are incredible and their sauces are out of this world.. Service is great!! The atmosphere can be very entertaining at the sushi bar or comfortable and romantic out in the dining area.. The bar is big and long and one of the best mojitos and flavored sake in Durango... I have taken friends that said they would never eat sushi and now are regular customers... Sergio and Hydi Verduzco are fabulous owners of this fine establisment.

An amazing selection of highly innovative dishes that are beautifully presented and served in a great, high energy atmosphere that is family friendly. ExSW has the best sushi & sashimi I've had anywhere, but they also offer a fantastic selection of cooked items and non-seafood dishes. Super clean, and one of the best run restaurants I've ever been to - and I used to own one. Regarding negative comments about the service, well everyone has an off night so don't let the slim possibility of that happening keep you away. Chances are much higher that your entire experience will be a terrific one. East by Southwest is a must try for anyone visiting or living in Durango. Go once and I bet you'll be hooked!

I live in Durango and go to this place weekly...at least! I've travelled the world with sushi a big part of all those travels. In the last 7 years, East by Southwest has been the gold standard. Amazing, but these best sushi I have ever had is in my small mountain town. Dishes are creative with Asian cuisine fused with Southwestern flair. You don't have to be a sushi lover to enjoy this place. They have a full menu with tons of cooked dishes not limited to seafood. One of the few resturants I've been to that can pull that off without losing focus on the featured sushi. Staff is great, but this place is popular, so don't expectto be in & out in a flash. Order a few things at a time and you won't be diasppointed. FAVS: mojitos, hand grenades, Hawaiann poke is unmatched even in Hawaii, tuna jalapenito, walu sashimi w/ black pepper sauce & sliced strawberries, Lotus Blossum roll(lots of sashimi w/ no rice or nori, it's wrapped in thin cucumber sheets), last but not least, the East by Southwest roll - spicy! I have eaten just about everything on the menu over the years and have yet to be let down. Keep up the good work guys! Customer for life - Dan
