What a wonderful historic hotel to stay in. Keep in mind this hotel is very old, there for many amenities are farmed out in the local community, example: if you would like to take a dip in the pool or relax in a Jacuzzi you must go to the local YMCA. The rest of the amenities at the hotel are luxurious, the day spa, shops, and restaurant are all top notch. I do have to give a lower rating on this hotel due to the fact of its non up-dates. During my morning shower on the fourth floor, another room had flushed the toilet, my shower water nearly boiled the skin off my chest. I understand this is an old hotel but they do need to update the plumbing system for safety reasons. My overall stay was wonderful and exactly what I expected of the historic hotel, I will stay there again.
Note: The bar needs to stock Johnnie walker blue label scotch. By doing this the hotel add a bit more of the upper class feeling, to complement its atmosphere.
I spent twelve nights there and enjoyed it. The staff was very helpful with every request. They explain the delay in hot water arriving as it being typical for a 100 year old hotel and while it is a little annoying you quickly learn to get up, put on the coffee, turn on the shower, crank up the computer and drink coffee and read email while waiting for the hot water. I would happily stay again. It is right downtown with a number of restaurants within two or three blocks and for those who like to walk you can walk around the entire downtown. One evening I went in the capitol building which is about six blocks away and took a little tour walking right by the Governor's office.
Good time but don't be in a hurry to get anything: The rooms were great to stay in, but we went to the restaurant in the hotel and it took forever. No one was in a hurry to help you with anything, not even the front desk.
