Okay, I own the place bought it Februaury 24, 2009. The changes are awsome. Don't believe all you read come and check it out for yourself. You will not be disapointed. The burger and shakes are the best around.
I rate star valley cheese average cuz in the past few months our town has seen many improvements including tne announcement of cheese production this year! im anxious to see what happens & have some fresh squeaky cheese! the restaurant seems to be improving slowly but steadily.
Won't serve you if you get there before closing: We were refused service since we arrived just ten minutes before 4pm when they close. They even refused to let me use the restroom or to allow me to purchase their famous cheese curds which we drove clear from Idaho to Wyoming to buy--which took us several long hours to get there to get and we never were allowed even to purchase the cheese curds. I was appalled--afterall the sign states curds are sold till 4 pm not till 3:50 pm. I'm not sure I will ever step foot in the place again. The lady was downright rude. She just was in a hurry to get off for the holiday and didn't care about a customer who drove all morning to buy curds -- she just wouldn't sell them even though there was ten minutes left to sell them and it would only have taken her 5 minutes to ring up the sale. I have been in customer service most of my life and would have taken the time to have rung up the sale eventhough I may have had to explain that the restaurant was closed. It is simple respect and customer service to ensure repeat customers in the future. I guess in the town of Thayne where there reside under 400 ppl and they get alot of tourists-- they must have the pick of the lot here at the Star Valley Cheese Restaurant....Next time I want cheese curds I'll drive to Utah...I know they make them there also and the drive is a bit less for us to go there. I wouldn't recommend the service here....but the curds are good if you don't mind rude ppl who like to decide if you are worth waiting on or not for a customer and don't forget to get there early as they don't like to wait on you too close to closing time it seems.

This resturaunt is wonderful. I will agree that the service is sometimes lacking, but we live in Thayne, Wyoming and go their frequently. We love their shakes. This place is famous and people drive from all around the country to eat here. I have a hard time feeling sorry for the user before me who commented on the lack of service. I personally think it's rude to show up to a resturaunt ten minutes to close on a holiday weekend and expect service. Most people who drive clear from Idaho just to go to the cheese factory would have left early enough to get their more than ten minutes before close.
I also live in the area and have been there to eat. There food is medicore at best, and the service is too. As for the cheese curds...they have been importing time from Utah for some time...so if you didnt get to eat here no loss. There are some much better places in Thayne to eat.
