About:One of downtown's newest establishments also is the first restaurant and distillery in the nation. Bardenay, which is sailor's slang for cocktail, concocts its own vodka, rum, gin and whiskey. In addition to drinks comes an impressive Mediterranean-style menu. Entrees range from Oyster Fry to Rum Pepper Steak while its Warm Boarshead Pastrami and Corned Beef Reuben sandwiches are certain to satisfy. Besides the distillery, the spacious brick-walled eatery features beers on tap served at its long, cherry-oak bar. Bring your appetite and alcohol tolerance, if necessary.

I'm torn between giving Bardenay five stars (they did a great job hosting my brother's wedding) or three stars (as my breakfast the following day was less-than-stellar). I do love the decor and the fact that they distill their own spirits is an A+ in my book. The staff was very friendly, even by Boise standards, but I got to say, my eggs benedict (vegetarian style) were cold...cold and runny at that. I'm thinking that maybe because I had to "special order" that my dish might have been better. I'll stick with the menu next time and let you know.

Best food in Boise at an affordable price! The best entree is the Salmon on a bed of Fettuccine Alfredo! The salmon is cooked to perfection and the pasta is very rich. Its seems to be very rare to find good food, good service and even more amazing its affordable! The salmon dish I mentioned above is only in the $12 dollar range.

Pretty veg friendly: Bardenay has a decent selection of vegetarian fare. I had the portabella sandwich, and the mushroom was well-marinated and very yummy, and the bread was tasty and fresh. The French fries were generic, but the couscous and the field greens looked very good. Bardenay also has a Mediterranean platter with hummus, baba ganoush and pita bread that is quite good. The best part about my Bardenay experience was the service, though, which was friendly, professional and very skilled. I asked the staff to make special adjustments to my meal to make it egg and dairy-free, and the waitress knew all the ingredients in my meal made sure that my food arrived just as I had requested it.
