| About: | Brick walls and painted arches greet diners as they enter this Boise favorite, located at the historic Eighth Street Marketplace . Opening its doors in 1981, the restaurant brings a little taste of Mexico to Idaho. Diners can munch on Nachitos or Mini Taquitos while waiting for their main course, or try the Chicken Tropicana Salad. Entrees include crispy Chicken Flautas and Camarones Rancheros, grilled shrimp with a homemade sauce. The Arroz Con Pollo En Crema, chicken covered with a jalisco-based cream sauce, highlights the specialties. The restaurant also serves a variety of margaritas and beers. |

Family Favorite!: We've enjoyed Cafe Ole' for years, while other Mexican restaurants charge for cold and often stale chips and regular salsa, you get the best fresh hot chips with your meal, or even if you just want to have a few margarita's or cerveza's to go along with the daily made chips and various salsa's from mild to spicy (I really like their cold and spicy pineapple salsa), along with the hot bean dip, just try not to stuff yourself before your meal arrives!
Cafe Ole' caters to family's and it's a favorite spot to celebrate birthdays and get your picture take with a big sombrero after being cerenaded by the wait staff, then you can share some of your fried icecream with fresh whipped cream, or not... it's your birthday, so you don't have to if you don't want to! :)
The 8th St. location has a large room to reserve parties and they also provide offsite catering. Wednesday is 2 - 4 - 1 margarita's until closing and parking is validated at the new Edwards theater just across the street, with two parking garages within close walking distance to Qwest Arena and the Funny Bone comedy club in downtown Boise, Idaho.
FYI - Cafe Ole' is a Boise original, not a franchise!

The Best: Cafe Ole is the best mexican food Boise has to offer. I love the friendly atmosphere, the comfortable seating arrangments, and the ample food served for the price. Everytime I go there I leave stuffed.
Cafe Ole is also great for celebrations as well as romantic evenings. I also like they they are open until 11pm whereas most places close in between 9 and 10.
If you chose to try Cafe Ole, you should try one of the many fabulous margaritas as they have many flavors to chose from.
ENJOY!!!
Our favorite for Mexican food!: Though some of the dishes are distinctly Tex-Mex, most of the food at Cafe Ole is authentically Mexican. We love the fish tacos and chimis. Though the Milwaukee location is just as good culinarily, we prefer the atmosphere at the downtown location.
