I've traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and Hawaii eating sushi every change I got. While Shiges doesn't beat what can be found in Hawaii, Seattle, or California, I have to say it's the best I've had at an inland restaurant. I've eaten at Shige's for years and the quality has remained consistent. The service has always left something to be desired but it's kind of like the "Soup Nazi" from Seinfeld . . . the quality of the food overshadows the poor service . . . in some weird way it actually adds to the character of this place. For the size of town, Boise has surprisingly few unique "hole in the wall" eateries that are worth going to, Shiges top that list for me.
Fantastic Food: Sushi's one of the best in Boise. Food is great. Shige, the owner/chef is a great guy. Service leaves much to desire, but sit at the sushi bar and Shige will take good care of you. Fresh fish arrives Thursdays so that's the best time to go.
Best sushi in the valley.: I have made this a weekly ritual as they serve the best sushi in town. I have tried each of the other restaurants in town and there is some serious competition, but Shige is the best. I recommend the Dragon Roll.
