This could have something to do with the small seating area, but is more about the great breakfast dining experience. Diners should plan for a wait, especially on weekend mornings, but it is well worth it. The breakfast menu features a create-your-own-breakfast combo with your choice of meats, breads and potatoes to add to your eggs. The Hollandaise is particularly good.

The food was good, but the wait to get seated is not worth it. I was in Boise for the first time over Labor Day with a friend of mine. Great city, clean, nice people, great vibe. We met my cousin and his wife at Goldy's. We were told it would be about 30 minutes before the table was ready. So we sat outside and waited. I noticed that many people arrived after us went in and put their names in but they were seated WAY before us. I didn't say anything and thought maybe it was because there were four of us. We wound up waiting a good 1 1/2 to be seated and watched a good 30 people arrive after us who got seated before us.
On Monday morning we were leaving to head back home and wanted to get some breakfast, but unfortunately there wasn't anything else open but Goldy's that we could find. So we decided to give Goldy's another try. Again we were told 30 minutes, but we figured there was only two of us we would probably get seated faster. NOT. Again we watched people arrive after us and then they would get called in before us. At 30 minutes I went back in to check on our reservation and was told it would be another 20-30 minutes. Came back outside and waited again. I then watched a young couple walk up and go put their name in. 5 minutes later their phone rang and they went in and were seated. I followed them in and told the lady we had been waiting 40 minutes and these people just arrive 5 minutes ago and are being seated. She said my table would be ready in 2 minutes. I walked out and we left. We finally got a call an hour later on the cell phone to tell us our table was ready. We stopped and got fast food instead. What a joke. Don't waiste your time going to Goldy's.
If you dont mind waiting 2 hours (+/-), Goldys has great food and great staff. We were a group of three (two adults one child) and waited 2 and a half hours for a table. I asked why the hostess let groups of two ahead of us and she was very rude. She snapped at me and made the whole experience uncomfortable. horrible hostess, wonderful wait staff.
Wish Boise had two great breakfast spots, but we dont, we have goldys. And the wait is ridiculous. I mean, how hard is it to make breakfast?
They do have a great atmosphere and very good food. I like that it is local and fresh.
Goldy's is overrated. Staff is extremely helpful, quick, and nice; but overall, the food is just average. There is nothing special to the taste or the quality of the food. I've been to Goldy's 4 times trying to find the "perfect" breakfast, but nothing has grabbed my attention. Taste wise, there is no "wow". The quality of the food is just average, ingredients probably purchased from Winco. The whole-wheat bread used for the toast has the same consistency as thin Wonder bread. As for the restaurant, it is very cute inside, and for the wait outside, there is usually coffee that customers may take for free. But as for the food, it is nothing special and all the menu items could easily be made at home.
