My wife and I have visited France many times, and have dined all over the country. This past Saturday we had a superb Provencal dinner at the Cafe. It was a pris fixe, and for $35 we had five wonderful courses. The service was friendly, efficient, and helpful. We look forward to many more dinners at this very fine restaurant.
I used to LOVE this place. The food was outstanding. In the past year or two, things have changed. The menu is much more limited, my favorite soup (it had leeks, swiss cheese, and potatoes?) is now gone. My favorite salad (with avocadoes and grilled chicken) now has a very creamy, bottled blu cheese dressing instead of the vinegrette it used to have. The service has become terribly slow. The last time I went I had the salad and ice water, and I was there for 1.25 hours! The desserts are very good, but I would not eat there for anything but dessert.
Where is our great little cafe'?: I used to love this place but haven't been in a while. The service was horrid (Had to ask for our drinks FOUR times and actually sat at our table staring at the beer sitting under the tap for at least 10 minutes!) and when we got our food, it was cold in the middle! You could tell it had been reheated in the microwave! Desert is the only redeaming quality left. I don't know what happened to the old chef, but they need to find a true replacement, and fast.
