Went to Gino's after the special olympic with a few of my friends. It has a great ambience and great food. The price wasn't to high. Our server Andrew was not good at all. I don't know if of was because we didn't order wine, but we didn't her service. It took over an hour to get our food. Also only the first loaf of bread is complementary. They charge you $2.00 a loaf after that. We were not told this by Andrew and didn't realize that until we got the bill. Also they charge you $2.00 for Alfredo and guess what he didn't say anything!
The BEST Restaurant in Boise By A Long Shot: This is absolutely my favorite restaurant in Boise. I've eaten at many North Beach Italian restaurants, and Gino's beats them all. All of Gino's dishes are absolutely delicious. I especially recommend the Veal Saltimboca and the Prosciutto Wrapped Prawn. The Minstrone is always very good too.
Excellent Italian, Lots of Vegetarian Choices: Gino's is one of the 8th Street Restaurants up on the Capitol Terrace along with The Piper Pub.
They always have a very fresh salad, and most of their pasta dishes can easily be made vegetarian. Many can be made Vegan. Their marinara sauce is thick, simple and to the point, and they have such "exotic" vegetables as Broccoli Raab and Asparagus available that you really can't get at very many restaurants.
The service is always excellent, and I enjoy the Dean Martin-Frank Sinatra et al background music. I do wish they wouldn't have the rotisserie at the front door. People who eat meat probably find it enjoyable, but the smell of roasting boar doesn't really do it for me.
Other than that, though, the atmosphere is great, the food is great, and the service is great.
