Be careful Costco Automobile Program buyers
I recently purchased a new honda using the "Costco Deal". The deal presented by the sales person was supposedly 3k off the MSRP. I agreed to a lease payment of 283.00 however after I got to the finance guys office, certain fees were added without my knowledge. $1,293 in fees was added back in taking the payment to $300.
I had added a few items so I knew the payment would go up but what I really was not expecting were the fees that were only apparent later by looking at the paper work the next day.
Shame on me for rushing to sign the paper work but these guys are experts in making you feel rushed. Shame on them for not disclosing them at the time. I was too trusting. I didn't learn about them until I came back the next day and started asking questions. Even if I had read the paper work, I could not clearly see two of these fees because they are not detailed out. Here is what got added back to the deal which reduced the 3k savings.
Doc Prep fee $299.
Honda Motor Leasing Acquisition fee $795.
Security fee - some sort of etched glass identification thing. $199.
On this last fee, it feels like they said "this has a steering wheel" That will be $199 extra. I say this because I was not given a choice and it's on the car.
I can normally negotiate my way out of these fees but I had my guard down because this was supposed to be the Costco No Hassle program.
Next time, (and a possible tip for you), START in the finance office. That will throw them off their game. Ask about every possible fee they are going to ask you to pay and even about those they may not disclose. Then you can better negotiate the deal (so much for no hassle). My favorite is to state that I will pay X $$ for the car and I expect to pay sales tax but will NOT pay any other fee. Makes it clean and simple.
Just moved to Idaho from another state. My brakes had a little noise-I knew it was the front wheel censor. So I was there to get front brake pads changed. I also had an emissions light lit in my car. I took my honda into LARRY MILLER HONDA in Boise thinking I could trust a big name dealer since I was new to the area and didnt know where else to go. Just to tell you briefly about my cars recent past..I just had all my belts changed, rear brakes, and the light that was on in my car was the emission light and it was due to the defective gas-cap seal which was causing an air leak and the light to eluminate--I was told this by my previous Honda Dealership in the other state in which I lived, they also performed all of the work just mentioned. I was told by LARRY MILLER HONDA in Boise that not only do i need my front brakes done, but that my timing belt and drive belts needed to be changed, and timing belt tensioner, and back brakes. They also advised me that the CAT converter needed to be replaced. While there, I called the old dealership which I had been using for many years w/all of the Honda's I've owned, to verify again that they did all of the work previously and he told me to "get out of that place, they will 'nickel and dime' you to death, and are not following Honda guidelines". They handwrote an estimate on a regular piece of paper...no official Honda computer generated printout. They tried to "deal" w/me (do it all now and get 10% off kind of thing). The final estimate was over $2600!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I left, but not w/out them charging me $65.00 for a diagnostic test for the emission light--------they also wanted to charge me "shop fee's"-----which they so graciously waived (im being sarcastic of course)!! But they got $65.00 from me which i will fight to get back, and worse is they wasted 3 hours of my day!!!!!!! BEWARE!!!!!
I agree, this is the worst Larry Miller Honda that I have ever been to. The service is always slow. Took me 2 hours to get my oil changed, even with an appointment!!
