delicious it took Greeks to make the best Chinese in
Bountiful
The Mandarin is Fantastic. I would HIGHLY recommend the Honey Walnut Shrimp. I would drive for hours to get that. As others have stated, the place is always packed and, at times, there is a wait. However, the longest I waited was for 20 minutes with a party of 6 on a Friday night (about 7 p.m.). The family style is the way to go. The food is well priced. The service is good. I'll admit the place could use an overhaul as it's an old building. However, that does bring some charm to the place. I give the food 5 stars and that is why I go to restaurants.
Too crowded, too noisy, too long a wait for mediocre food. I much prefer other Chinese restaurants in town who have better, faster service and delicious food. Won't waste my time here again.

This review is so far off It is laughable and probably posted by a local competitor. The Mandarin is the very best Chinese food in all of Utah. I moved to Farmington 6 years ago from Boise and even before I moved folks were telling me that I must be sure to eat at the Mandarin once I get to Davis County. The place is noisy, because it's always packed. But I never thought that the noise was distracting. But it's a restaurant and the proprietors don't go around sushing people if they are loud, perhaps you came on a bowling league night. I believe that you must eat at a restaurant more than once to really get an accurate overall impression. I have eaten at the Mandarin many, many times so I guess I would be much more qualified to comment on the joint than a disgruntled one timer. The restaurant inside and out is very traditional. From the Bonsia trees in the garden to the coy pond and the variety of Japanese maples to the ornate ceiling and decor, the restaurant has an authenticity to it that is very sincere. The food, and better yet, the value of the food you get, for the money spent is what really sets it apart from any other restaurant. I love the Shrimp Chow Mein, my wife adores the Honey Walnut Shrimp. I also recommend the Cashew Chicken, Imperial Noodles and the Crab Wontons and Eggrolls. They do charge extra for white rice but like any upper class restaurant this is normal. If you don't beleive me, try to get a free salad and the Chez Paul or the Baron Shire. This prevous reviewer used the word MEDIOCRE to describe the food. I would say that this is the the very funny part of the review and the reason I took the time to write my response. Please go back to Alabama, or Kentucky or wherever you came from an please stay off the computer.
