| About: | Salt Lake's original brewpub has become a local favorite. Innovative cuisine, casual style and patio dining in the summer have made this one of downtown's hot spots. The enclosed garden patio is a summer lunchtime delight, while the cozy fireplace and timber poles inside give the restaurant a rustic look. Favorites include the beer-battered fish and chips and all of the specialty pizzas. The on-site brewery ensures your porter, lager, or stout will be delicious. |

Haven't been to Squatter's in years... I haven't missed a thing! I ordered a margarita on the rocks (yes, I know it's a brewery.) It was an odd color of green and instantly I was suspect! What a surprise that it tasted like gatorade with not a hint of tequila (which DOES have a fairly distinct taste.) Would've been better with the standard "marg mix!"
I ordered a Reuben sandwich, which came soggy (bread wasn't toasted) and the dressing was WAY, WAY too sweet. The side was garlic fries (standard-fare fries with chunks of garlic sprinkled on top.) The garlic wasn't roasted. I only had a couple of them and was severeIy punished with garlic burps all night and part of the next day. We ordered chips & salsa app... how can you screw that up? The black bean dip tasted "like dirt smells," the green salsa/avacado dip had no flavor at all, and the tomato salsa... they'd be better off buying the fresh salsa from Costco!
Squatters may have had good food when they first opened, but they've really let things go. The downtown location (like many) are benefitting from the closing of Port O' Call. Shame, shame on the Utah legislature and their too close relationship with the Mormon church!! Why can't they just subscribe to the doctrine of their church? Leave the bars and clubs alone for us sinners and "Choose the Right" by staying out of them!!!
I was drug here by my family in for the holidays and I must say take it for what it is. Just a pub. Go there to drink if you're into those places, but do not go for the food, unless you like greasy day old looking burgers. Sadly Mcdonalds has better food.
I have had better. Nothing Unique here.: The food seems to be the type that just needs to be warmed up to be served. I have been here twice and it has been a similar experience. Sevice is okay, but on the slow side, even on non-busy nites. I could not recommend this place to a visitor from out of town.
