Mmm...a favorite of all Utahns. In-and-out is to California, as Cafe Rio is to Utah. Also try Bajio and Costa Azul. If you are visiting Utah, this is a must.
The food is good, service is not the best. A hit and miss with me. I do not even try to eat their any more. Call it in. ALWAY make sure you have the right food before you leave, do not take their word for it. I have a few times and have learned from it. They are pricy as well.
The food at Cafe Rio is excellent, but don't let the other reviews fool you - it is NOT authentic mexican food. It is fast food Mexican...well maybe minus the "fast". People literally walk over small children rushing into Cafe Rio, afterwhich they wait in line for upwards of a half hour to then have to YELL their order over a tall counter (I'm 5'3 & I have to get on my tiptoes) to an assembly line of works who construct your meal. If you make a weird request, they make fun of you. If you can handle all of that, at the end of the line you have to deal with whomever is at the register to try to sort out which orders are yours. Sometimes this is smooth, sometimes it is not. Then good luck finding a table! Once you are seated, be prepared to talk very loudly to whomever you are dining with, as it is sometimes hard to have a conversation over people yelling their orders & the occasional "FREE MEAL" you hear the workers yell (for the punch cards). Is the food delicious? Absolutely! But unless you love the chaos of a food court, I recommend calling in your order & picking it up, but make sure you know what you want before you call because the people on the phone talk fast & sometimes barely speak english. Or go in between 1:30 - 4:00 when it is much less hectic! I highly recommend the salads with the "creamy" dressing.
