The Massaman curry was great a few owners ago, but now it tastes more like it's made in honey than coconut milk. It was so sweet my soda tasted bland in comparison. Order a hot 5/5 curry results in something about as hot as fire sauce from Taco Bell. I'd give it a one star except "bad" Thai food is better than no Thai food.
I have eaten at many Thai restaurants throughout Utah - Including the Spicy Thai in Provo and the Thai Ruby over by BYU - Both which were excellent. So, I thought I would give the Thai Kitchen an opportunity.
Well - Very disappointed indeed! The restaurant was dirty and very unkept. The Fish tank looked as though it hadn't been cleaned for years!! The light fittings were very sad, the ceiling was dirty. The rugs ripped. I looked at my colleague and grimaced, and said I wondered whether the kitchen was as bad... Or WORSE!! Aaaaargh!
But we ordered - The soup came and it looked terrible!! Like dirty dish water!!! Just tasted like chicken stock with some spongey egg and a few pieces of vegetables... Two spoonfuls was enough.
Next the main course... My colleague has some beef with some wide noodles of some sort - I mentioned they looked slimy - He agreed and a mouthful later he said they tasted slimy too!! Well overcooked and probably from the night before. My meal at least looked appetizing, but the taste test showed that the stir fried vegetables were soft and well cooked - more like stewed vegetables than stir fried - Last nights too... I think so...
The satay chicken was tasteless.
The peanut sauce was good and the boiled rice was OK.... That's about the best we can say.
The waiter asked if everything was OK? My colleague said NO - The food was very bad quality - The waiter said sorry and walked away!!
Be very careful about deciding that this is the place for you to eat.... Maybe it was just a bad day for them... But the decor and the broken, worn and slimy menu's say differently....
2-9-11 arrived 5pm. Two women waiting for takeout order. No servers to be found. Finally one came out to give takeout to the ladies. They left. Server went into back. Came out. Went behind curtain behind counter. I continued to wait for a menu? Water? Someone to ask "How can I help you?". Nothing. Got up and left at just after 5:15pm. On way out waitress asked if she could help with anything. Said "no". Went to Wendy's and got my meal in 3 minutes.
Maybe their food is good. But the service is not. May want to call ahead and make sure waitress is awake or has glasses on or hearing aid turned up to hear customers enter? Your choice!
