Well, I suppose this would be fun if you could get there safely.
My tire blew out just 1 mile from the quarry. My car had been checked the day before so it was a surprise. After I changed it, I got to the quarry to find that not only could no one use a cell phone out there, the owners themselves had no way to communicate with town which was about 1 hour away.
So we turned around without getting to dig because the only thing they were sure of was that I wouldn't get any service on the next day because it was Sunday and that the tire store might be closed if I waited until after we dug.
As it turned out they were closed already. But luckily someone was there. The guy at the tire store said he wishes U-dig would put on the website not to drive normal cars and vans out there because he's always going out to rescue people. He said the sharp rocks are too much for cars with regular tires. He said renting a truck would be better.
Honestly, it didn't look like much anyway when we did get out there, so we aren't planning on going back to try again. For the $500 we spent on the trip, we should have just gone to a rock show in Denver.
I saw U-Dig Fossils on the Travel Channel last night. I have not been there yet, but it looks like a great place to go in Delta, Utah.
