I just went to Cafe Rio for the first time yesterday. It has been a struggle to find good Mexican food since moving to Southern Utah. The struggle continues. The place was not very clean. I did like the style they chose for table and chairs. The price was not bad. But the taste of the food was bland. Not a lot to it, tasteless beans, hard rice, plain chicken etc. I got my burrito enchillada style, the sauce 90% salt, i guess to cover how plain the rest was. My daughter did like the tortillas though. 2 Stars
This is an update, from the review I did after my first visit to Cafe Rio. I now go from 2 stars to a full 5 stars. This has become the favorite place for my family and I. Fresh hot tortillas are great. The employees are awesome, quick, and on the ball. I would almost kill a mormon for a pork tamale. I have learned to get the "hot" sauce on my enchilada style burrito. I do with it were really hot, but it is great anyway. My wife loves the quesadillas and everything else.
We love it here.
I'm not a fan at all of Cafe Rio. When I want Mexican food. I want real Mexican food. I found Cafe Rio far from it. Its almost like it is too sweet or something. Not sure what it is about it. I don't see what so many see in it. It is blah.
I had a horrible experience regarding unsanitary food handling practices at the St. George - Cafe Rio. Thankfully, the general manager contacted the very next day and assured that the issue would be handled. I have always love the food here! I was extremely pleased at the quick response to my concerns.
