My wife and I moved to this part of town a few months ago and have been going here at least once a week since we discovered it. We not only love the food but enjoy the atmosphere as well.
We have always had excellent service and even better food. I usually get the same thing when I eat Chinese but I have tried at least 12 different items on the menu because the flavor is so good in all of their dishes.
I highly recommend for a great dinner at a place with a nice dim yet warm atmosphere.
Loyal Customers: Okay, this is my first time ever reviewing a restaraunt but after reading what this one guy said, I have to respond. My wife and I have been customers of this place for almost 3 years now. We literally eat there once or twice a week!
The mongolian beef is outstanding. However, it may sound strange but I look forward to the wonton soup. My wife loves the eggrolls.
The service is fantastic! Everyone there knows us and greets us like friends. Even the cooks.
It's usually busy and still each server takes the time to listen and pay attention. The food is served fresh, hot and quickly.
It's not a buffet thank God! I hate Chinese buffets. They're full, hot and nothing but crying babies and people touching everyone else's food.
This is a nice restaraunt where you order off the menu. Made for only you and not 100 other people in bulk.
It's awesome!
Is this a restaurant or dumping ground?: I don't recommend this Chinese restaurant at all. Last time I ate here was February 2005. At that point, this restaurant seemed to be frozen in time from the 70's. The internal air was musty and stale. Floor looked like it hasn't been mopped.
Host/waiteresses were unfriendly and dry. I ordered Kung Pao Chicken and my dish had just 7 tiny pieces of meat, but tons of onion. I told the waitress that I ordered a Kung Pao Chicken, not a "Kung Pao Onion" and it was around $7.
When waitress told the owner or manager about my complaint, he came to me and plainly told me to "get out". I stood my ground by refusing to leave after I demanded a refund that was paid earlier {don't ask me why I had to pay upfront before I eat anything}. The manager refused, but realized that I wasn't going anywhere after they threatened to call the police. Few customers were around; he eventually said he'll refund minus my tea-I agreed.

You must not be speaking of the same restaurant. I make it a point to arrange my schedule to eat at this restaurant each time I visit Phoenix. They have been voted number one for a reason. Either that or you are a problem looking for a place to complain... there might have been a good reason they asked you to pay up front. I have never seen that occur. I have always had exceptional service, exceptional food, and look forward to going back. The interior might be dated by your taste, but the food is what brings me back! What restaurant do you recommend that makes you happy?
Thanks for your opinion and feedback. I'm not the type who look for a place to complain to get some "freebies" as I'm not this type. I'm a professional accountant who happened to be caught in such a confrontation with the manager/owner. That night, I just completed my 12 hours shift during the tax season. I simply wanted some "peace and quiet" and a place to enjoy a hot meal. I didn't get that. Though, this is the past. :) I highly recommend China Chili, which was initially on N. Central and E. Mitchell. It was moved a few blocks away due to the Metro rail construction. China Chili makes me one happy and satisfied customer with their high quality food and exceptional services.
