| About: | This British-owned pub serves up English hospitality and a large selection of imported beers and lagers. For something exotic, try some Heather Ale from Scotland, brewed with wild heather. The menu features some traditional British fare like fish & chips and Meat Pasties. Darts and pool tables crowd one side of this undoubtedly British Pub and a separate dining area is opposite. The full menu is available in the pub, but the dining area offers a quieter atmosphere. This pub has also earned the Rep's Best title of Best British Pub. |

Great atmosphere, beers and service, but if you're looking for AUTHENTIC British fish n chips, this isn't the place. There's a certain look to real fish n chips and Brits know this! *cough*Codfather*cough* .... The batter on my fish was soft and chewy. Also my GERMAN mother makes better bangers n mash than this place, AND she serves it with fried leeks! This place has all the bells n whistles if you're looking for a visual clone of home with the real beers and can be refreshing for the British visitor who's homesick. There's a pub area as well as a nicely appointed dining area. Food portions are good, but sub-par for authenticity and quality for the slightly picky eater. Brits I've taken there found the food to be average. HOWEVER this is the place to be for the special events with bands. The Glass Heroes rock!
Came to try the fish and chips. traveled an hour to try. Had lunch and a beer. Fish and chips dont have a price .. lists as market value .. even for lunch. staff is very attentive and friendly. lunch crowd started to head in and seemed like regulars. soup of the day was Tomato.. was not much of a fan of tomato soup but had to try ... this was the most awesome tomato soup i have ever had in my life!! Was very happy and looking forward to the fish and chips.
Fish and chips arrived ... fries were very basic thick steak fries. had coleslaw ... which was very good. Now the fish ... it was a nice looking thick golden piece .... once i bit into it i new something wasnt right .... it was the batter ... it was way to hard and chewy .... the outer batter would squeeze the fish out before the outer batter broke free to eat. The fish itself was awesome ... fresh and cooked perfectly. nice portion, but think i paid for it at $8.95 for a lunch portion. had two bud lights at $3.50 each. basically walked out with a $20.00 bill for lunch.
Not really sure if i would go back again(maybe to try the sheppards pie next time) .... had way better beer batter fish at native new yorkers on the Friday fish fry day.
Although the tomato soup was very very good. 2 and half stars for this place ... expected much more for fish and chips here.
continued......
Came in 3 weeks later to try the sheppards pie ... very basic tasting sheppards pie ... had dinner portion at $11.71 .... huge and very filling .. had leftovers ... it was basically just hambuger and potatoes ... needed more vegtables ... meat was very seasoned but dry, gravy didnt really help ... cant really rave about it .... had way better sheppards pie at R.T. O'sullivans in Mesa. 3 stars to sheppard pie ... staff was awesome!
THIS IS A GREAT PLACE TO EAT, RELAX AND ENJOY. THE BEER SELECTION IS AWESOME ALTHOUGH I DONT DRINK BEER.
THE STAFF IS GREAT.
