| About: | The regulars here probably still refer to this restaurant as the Lone Star, its former name. Other than the name, not much has changed at this favorite mid-town haunt. Chicken-fried steak is still a menu staple and the steaks, burgers and other Texas treasures are still washed down with a longneck lager. The Texas tone is set with stuffed armadillos and Lone Star license plates tacked up on the walls. Try the mortar-like mashed potatoes! |

I entered the restaurant on a busy weekend evening. I thought the decor was a little old but classic country. At first I thought...maybe I've found a great hidden spot... (I'm new to the valley) But I was very wrong!!! The server took 25 minutes to acknowledge us...She wasn't busy either..She was very rude..never smiled...and had the manager do most off her work..while she leaned up against the counter...I felt so uncomfortable!!! The steak was okay, nothing to go back about...I wish they would have had baked potatoes...
What a great find! The chicken fried steak is the best. A very unspectacular place from the outside. Pretty much the same inside. That's part of the great appeal of this place. This restaurant will be a regular part of our annual Spring Training trip to Phoenix.
this place is consistantly good every time, it is texas soul
food.Nothing fancy but a lot of food prepared with care and the
service people are wonderfull.
I'm retired chef,ex chef of the arizona club, and i know what i speak of,
