| About: | The portions are huge and the food is good enough that the regular customers almost need to be rolled out the door. It's an unassuming-looking place with lots of Mexican knick-knacks and neon signs. The big booths are perfect for big eating. Some house specialties include Calabacita Carne Asada (grilled steak with a succotash of squash and corn on the side) and the Veggie Burro (flour tortilla filled with grilled carrots and potatoes). Or you might try the Via Chalupas (thick, fried tortilla topped with chicken, cheese, salsa and lettuce). The sopapillas, a Mexican-style donut that you drizzle with honey, shouldn't be missed. |

User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsGreat Mexican Food Restaurant. I really like how their food has lots of flavor, instead of all the spice. Unlike other restaurants that prefer to just make it spicier to make up for the taste. Apparently the others that had a bad experience must have walked in there with their heads up their own ass. The Food Is Fantastic and the Service is Great.
User Rating: 1 out of 5 starsDon't waste your money going to Via Delosantos. I used to live up the street from there & my husband & I wanted to make it a local hangout. In the five times we had eaten there, we had one experience where the service was good. All other times, the server went through the motions, often devoid of interest. The food was always average, just enough to pay to get out of the house and hang there. Today just brought my opinion way down. After getting done telling my sister that the food is OK & that we almost always have horrible service, I gave it one more chance. The hostess put our menus on the table and walked away without looking at us, the server barely looked us in the eye (cultural thing maybe?), slammed our plates down and darted towards the kitchen (how about, how does this look? Do you need anything else?), brought out the wrong side (she ordered rice, got beans), had the nerve to ask "Are you allergic to beans or something?" "Uhhh, no, I ordered rice." (Why is that relevant?), & THERE WERE SEVEN FLIES ON THE WINDOW NEXT TO US THAT KEPT HOVERING OVER OUR FOOD. I know it's Mexican food, but we felt like we were in Mexico! I would rather see a fly strip with dead flies on it than have live ones landing on my food. My sister got so disgusted, I whipped out my card so we could get the hell out of there. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My dad got food poisoning from the Albondigas Soup at Via de Losantos and was in bed for 3 days. The management offered no apologies or empathy for such a serious matter. They barely acknowledged our concern even though we have been loyal neighborhood customers for years. We have enjoyed the cheap margaritas but I stopped ordering the chicken after my first chimichanga. My chimichanga was filled with gristle and fat and I asked them how they cook it and I found out its boiled chicken. The shredded beef is ok but if you get a beef enchilada, it comes with chunks of beef that look lke wet dog food! I have been willing to over look the "mystery meat" until now, but after the horrible treatment we received from the staff, I am sorry to say that Via has lost some good customers...all we wanted was a simple apologie.

I have been here several times and always had a pleasant experience. I agree with the head up the a$$es. Those people should stick to one of the (mexican food) chains.
