I called Dr. Hunt's office yesterday desperate for help. He had done life-saving surgery on my Mother-In-Law's cat when no one else would. She is on a fixed income and needed to make payments. He did the surgery for a much lower price than any other quotes and worked out a payment plan, which she paid off early. We THOUGHT he was a blessing...until yesterday.
My cat, a rescue, was having difficulties breathing yesterday and unfortunately, I am out of work at the moment. I asked to speak to Shelly, the person I worked with before, and was told that she wasn't in the office. I asked to speak with an office manager or someone that could help me and was told that only Dr. Hunt could talk to me but he wasn't available.
I even called back a little while later explaining that I really needed to bring my cat in. The woman that answered the phone coldly told me that they don't do payments anymore period. I explained that Dr. Hunt had worked out something with my Mother-in-Law recently and she didn't care.
My cat DIED yesterday...yes - I said DIED. I took him to a my local vet and his lungs were full of fluid and they couldn't save him. I can't stop crying, my son is devastated - it's the worst outcome ever.
I am shocked and saddened that a vet and vet office that I was SO taken with - so grateful to - had turned so cold and uncaring. They should be ashamed. It's time to pack up and go corporate - maybe sell to VCA?
No receipt, late results, we had to keep calling to get the results. Mr. Hunt was overpriced there was no followups, it seemed like he didn't even care about the pet. I'm suspicious of why he is so highly rated, this is the reason I drove all the way to see him from the other side of town in the first place. Not recommended. He is NOT affordable. 130 dollars solely for blood work of our ten year old dog. We did more work than he did. All for a simple diagnosis that didn't require blood work in the first place- it was just an add on for cash so that he could make something off of our visit.
Just like real doctors our vet system and health system is flawed. All about the money. I'm sad that there seems to be so few reputable professionals out there.
Dr. Hunt, of Catalina Vet, is a Saint! He has been our vet for over 5+ years and deserves more praise and thanks than I could ever give him. I have referred hundreds of people on CL to him over the years, all to which are extremely grateful after seeing him. He is a great man and cares more about the animals than he does his own wallet! If you love your pet and want them to receive exceptional care at an affordable (cheap) rate, Take them to Dr. Hunt!! All rescues take their animals to him and I trust him with my own 3 cats and 2 dogs!! Not to mention any of my foster animals!! He has also taken in many "unwanted" pets and treated them, AND found them homes!!! I do not know what I will do if he ever decides to retire!! He is a truly amazing Man and is an asset to the veterinary field!

You are the one who should be ashamed. Why didn't you just TAKE your pet into see him! He saves THOUSANDS of animals and charges half of what other vets would. The office is overwhelmed with sick and needing animals DAILY! They only take walk ins and there are LINES of people waiting before they even open!! If you would of taken your DYING pet into see him, he would of made arrangements with you!! Office people are just that, office people. Dr. Hunt will always save an animals life and worry about payment later!! He is a saint and only charges the bare minimum! How dare you blame him for YOUR negligence!
