| About: | In the days when downtown Scottsdale was truly still "the West's most western town," this venerable venue was THE place to gather. For many, it still is. The dining room is cowboy, but the bar is purely a sports shrine. Baseball's Cactus League games are played at the nearby Scottsdale Stadium and both players and fans can be found drinking and dining. Steaks and prime ribs hit home runs here. All of your classic American favorites can be found on the menu. |

The worst meal I have ever had. The biscuits were something they must have picked up at the grocery store and heated up in the micro. The garlic bread was just as bad. I've bought better garlic bread in the freezer section of the grocery store. It doesn't appear either were made in house. They should have been considering the price you pay for your meal. We had the petit filet and salmon. Both were horrible quality. Nothing had any flavor. We didn't finish our meal. OVERPRICED. Will never go here again.
When I walked into the Pink Pony, it seemed like a time warp back 40-50 years! Lounge singer, antique lamps, high-back upholstered seats. But there was something very cool about the place. The baseball memorabilia was fantastic. When I saw the menu I was a bit surprised at the prices. The waitress we had was very polite and took good care of us. Wish I could remember her name, though, to give her credit. I ordered the shrimp and crab fettucini. It was quite a lot and very delicious. Nobody left hungry and we got our money's worth. The lounge singer fit the restaurant perfectly! Not a place I would go to every time I visit (prices), but have recommended it to friends who plan on traveling to the Phoenix area.
I had high expectations when I came here only to be let down. The steak was marginal at best. The fillet was overdone, the rib eye was thin and salty, and the swordfish was rubbery. Overall this restaurant was overpriced and nothing more than Denny's with a baseball ambience. The only saving grace of this overrated restaurant was the pink pony matches on the way out. Do yourself a favor and eat at Bandera's right next door.
