This place has amazing food!!!!!!!!!!!I love the fact that everything is home made. All of the sause is home made the meatball are to die for. And now they have this $5 dollar lunch menu that is such a great deal it not like some of these places..
I have eaten here about a dozen times since I live very close to the shop. I mostly get the pizza because of the following.
The sauce is kind of weak and watery, and they do not give you enough of it. The meatballs are just OK, nothing special.
The pizza is very good with very fresh ingredients. Pass on the pasta but get the pizza. The crust is a bit chewy, but very good. Its as good as Barros pizza. The Italian sausage they use is not the best, or its not the type I am used to, so I pass on that topping.
If your getting it to go, make sure you check your order, very seldom is it correct. Even if you are getting it delivered, check your order before the delivery person leaves.
All in all it's a good place, I just wish they would change their pasta sauce. It's really very tasteless. If the sauce is typical for Chicago, remind me not to ever get pasta while visiting. I like my pasta sauces very rich and thick with lots of flavor. If I hold my plate on a slight slant, and red colored water runs off, thats not a good sauce to me. In all truth, they would be better off opening a bottle of ragu sauce.
If you want good a good pasta sauce, go to Olive Garden. Its really the only place around in my opinion that has a decent sauce. Because in all fairness, almost all of the Italian places I have eaten at here in Arizona are not worth it. I spent 4 years in Germany with some side visits to Italy, so I have eaten at some true Italian restaurants.
Pasta is the best out there. Some family members don't give great service but enough to get by. Food is very good take it from a Chicago Italian.
