I make it a point to eat here often when I am in AZ for work. It's a very casual place, and the staff has always been friendly to me!
I LOVE the salsa,it's the best EVER! I'm from California, so I know all about great Mexican, and this place rocks!!! I wish they had one over here in CA!
Service is not outright rude, but not polite either. The $9.00 buffet is certainly a poor choice. The "buffet" is poorly stocked with low-grade cuts of meat (when available). It is poorly maintained and more than once have I sampled it when not up to proper temperature. I would be surprised if nobody has ever been sickened by the cool meats or warm dairy products. I've visited a few times and it only gets worse. The rest of their "Mexican" food is only o.k. There are better choices and I've moved on to them.
If it means anything, my complaints are about the food quality and service. The restaurant seems clean and inviting otherwise. That is, if you aren't going there for anything else.
Best Mexican Food EVER !!!!!: I am from Ohio and as you can imagine it is not the mecca for Mexican food (but it is improving).... anyhoo, I traveled to Phoenix, AZ to see my best friend and she took me to the best place ever for Mexican food which is La Fonda!!!
The chips were fresh and hot with a hint of salt over all of them (not just some) and the salsa had the perfect amount of cilantro which in my view if a Mexican restaurant does not have the chips and salsa perfected , it is adios amigos. The chimichanga lunch that I had was sensational.
When I visit Phoenix again, this restaurant will be first on my list of places to go. Simply authentic, simply awesome!!!!!
