Jack's Original Barbeque

I first heard about Jack's, online. I couldn't wait to try it as I hear Arizona doesn't have good barbeque.

When I drove in, the front of the store was a construction zone with only a port-a-john in the front parking lot. Inside there was an elderly man needing the bathroom. He was really old and hunched over. The lady was chewing him out telling him that the bathroom was being remodeled and he had to go outside to use the port-a-john. I don't think he could have made it there. I almost left but waited some more. They never did take my order and so I left without getting anything. Service was slow.

Second time, I went back and no other patrons were there. Service was great. People were nice and friendly. The food was bland. No smoke ring, no spices. It was nothing but unseasoned roast. Sauce is bland.

Ironically, the walls have all these old newspaper clippings telling how Jack's is always voted the best in Tucson. One even goes so far to state that Jack's was voted best in the nation. The articles are so far off they are not worthy of the space it would take to write it up.

Add me too the list of people not going back.

BBQ: worst bbq i have ever had, don't know how they stay open. need to put some spices in the bbq sauce. taste like ketchup, boring!
