Vanishing American culture: The Deanza drive in is the best, plain and simple. It is the last remaining drive in out of 3 that I can remember having in the early 90's. The same guy has owned it for several years and has recently made some improvements. This was a welcome sign because I have been a patron forever! I have been concerned that my beloved chill spot would become a dinosaur like so many of it's kind.
As always the price of admission includes a double feature. Any long time fans have worked out the system they use to mix and match shows, so you don't have to see one over again as new features come out. You have to have an F.M. radio for the audio, no old school speakers to tear off your windows! Admission is a mere $5 and up until recently was free for most kids.
This is a great place to hang out. You can bring kids and let them have a good time without irritating everyone else like at a theater. People are free to bring picnics which is another part of the value. There is a snack bar for newbies and lazy's.
I suggest using the bathrooms during the first show or intermission, after that they get pretty darn gross.
Over the years we have met with friends over movies and lawn chairs in the lovely night air. This much fun for $5 should be illegal.
The only place to go: Two new movies for five bucks, bring your own food and drink, they have a snack bar if you rather buy but the popcorn is nasty. You don't get the surround sound like in a regular theater unless your car stereos are pimped out, but it's more enjoyable to me. My comfy reclinable car seat, fast food, and the baby sleeps in my lap during the show. The only bad part is if it rains you can't see well and if stupid people in trucks and SUV's park in front they ruin the view for everyone.
Awsome: 5 bucks two movies.. WHAT ELSE NEEDS TO BE SAID.. but the screens look great for a drive in.. The sound being FM depends on your car stereo or if you bring a boom box with nice big speakers so you can set it out in the back of your truck:) awesome.. you can bring any snacks you like.. drink beer / smokes while you watch two big name movies for 5 bucks..
