Stopped here on Labor Day on our way back to Tucson from the Grand Canyon. Excellent food and we had a great experience- highly recommend for breakfast!
On a road trip filled with strip malls and chain restaurants, the Lone Pine Restaurant was a refreshing respite. Had a great breakfast. Oatmeal had real brown sugar, omelet fluffy, sausage had bite but not greasy. Service was friendly and efficient. Food was real, unpretentious, good -- real good. Worth a detour.
The Lone Pine is the only restaurant in Munds Park (Pinewood) so it gets pretty busy on holiday weekends and in the summer. The staff do a great job of getting everyone served wether you're there for breakfast (great prices), lunch (best burger I've ever had), or dinner (huge hand-cut Ribeye steaks). They have also added pizza to the menu a few nights a week due to the high demand and although they sometimes take a while (30 minutes on busy nights) it's well worth the wait. Besides, with a full bar brimming with cabiners and campers there's plenty to do while you wait. Their famous Friday Night Fish Fry is served during the summer months, it's all-you-can-eat and comes with french fries and coleslaw. One of the things we look forward to when going to our cabin in the summer is the fish fry. All in all, a fun, friendly place with great food... perfect for the whole family!
