About:Just a block from the University of Arizona is Tucson's oldest, original brewery. A winner of many awards for its beers and ales, including Best of Show at the 1998 Las Vegas International Beer Festival, Gentle Ben's Brewing Company is also a favorite for its innovative cuisine. Would you expect to find Spinach & Artichoke Dip or a Asian Chicken Wrap at a brewpub? You will here, along with an interesting selection of salads, sandwiches, pastas and appetizers. Its seven brewed-on-premise beers run from pale ales up to porters and are available by-the-glass, as sampler "flights" and even by the jug or keg to take out.

    Read a lot about this place so I was pumped up to go here. We stopped in ater the parade; a lot of the offerins weren't there. I tried an old staple (brown ale) and it was more like an IPA. I sampled a few others and walked away disappointed. Perhaps i's location next to the college is a reason that it's so popular. Personally, it can't hold a candle to Nimbus.

    I haven't found a Barrio Brew that I didn't like. The main dish, hamburgers, is great and the beer battered fries are the best French fries in Tucson. The triple quonset hut warehouse in the "Warehouse District" belies the upscale crowd and brew. My only complaint is that they sometimes run out of their take-out jugs "growlers".
