Yamato to me is one of 5 reasons why i regret moving to Phoenix. If gas prices were even $3.20/gal then i would drive back down to Tucson for the weekend just to have MY Yamato Sushi! Yamato is one of tucsons finest landmarks. Enjoy!

I lived in Japan for five years. I have very high standards for Japanese food. Yamato is the only Japanese resturant in Tucson that serves food to my standards.
Despite the delicious food, Yamato does have problems. It is located in a depressed strip mall, it needs decorating, and the service is slow.

Who would have know that the best sushi in Tucson was right in my own neighborhood! I've eaten sushi in big cities and little cities and across continents, but this little place, a few blocks from my house is really some of the best. If you are going for sushi because of the food and not for the ambiance or decor, then this is the place. As far as location...it is central and there is always parking, although I prefer to walk. I like my neighborhood and am even happier that Yamato Sushi is part of it! Where else can I get monk fish liver and shiitake mushroom sushi at the same time.
