Genovese's Ristorante Italiano

We arrived around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, right between lunch and dinner. The place was empty. Our waiter sat us in the window booth. Nice. Our first test of an Italian restaurant is calamari fritti. It came hot and crisp with marinara sauce. I found it adequate, my wife RAVED about this appetizer. She ordered the seafood manicotti. Two large manicotti shells topped with grilled shrimp and smothered in white clam sauce. She ate as much as she could and took the rest to the hotel for breakfast. Yuck!! She LOVED it. I ordered the eggplant parmigiana. That's my second test. It came nicely sauteed, covered in the delicious marinara and a side of rigatoni. Now maybe I was hungry from the road trip from San Diego, but this entree was scrumptious. Our waiter was exceptional. He moved from Las Vegas and was homesick for good Italian when he found Genovese's. He liked the place so much he went to work there.
We could have done wine or beer with the meal and the wine list is pretty good. We went with iced tea, which was very good.
After dessert (tiramisu, of course), our server told us about the Central Arizona Concert Band that was going to begin a free program later that afternoon at the courthouse (1/2 block away). We wandered around downtown (full of little shops) until the concert. The band was great. What a wonderful way to end a full day.

Absolutely the best Italian food I have ever eaten. Outstanding service. Relaxed atmosphere.
I particularly like the Seafood Diavolo, Veal Parmigana, homemade soups, every one of their sauces, Calzones, Cannoli, Tiramisu.
The staff does not hover over the table, but instead observes from a distance and is at the table when needed. The seating is uncrowded and I have never felt rushed to finish my meal.
I make a point of visiting Genovese's at least once during every visit to Prescott and I recommend it without hesitation.

Awesome food. Simply the best Italian in Prescott and it can compete with the best anywhere.
