EATEN HERE TWICE. FOOD IS NOTHING TO WRITE HOME ABOUT. LAMB WAS VERY MEDIOCRE. SIGNATURE SOUP WAS NOT VERY HOT. KILLER VEGETABLE PLATE LOOKED FAR BETTER THAN IT TASTED. (I ADVISE ANYONE NOT TO EAT THIS!) OTHER ENTREES I WON'T EVEN MENTION. DESERTS ARE ALSO NOTHING SPECIAL. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THE CHOCOLATE SOUFFLE FOR TWO. YOU WILL BE SORELY DISAPPOINTED. OUR SERVICE WAS VERY GOOD THE FIRST TIME, TERRIBLE THE NEXT. OUR SERVER WAS UNPROFFESIONAL AND ANNOYING. THE OWNER,WHO I BELIEVE IS ENGLISH, WAS THERE THAT EVENING ALONG WITH HIS WIFE. THEY WERE WORKING THE FRONT. HE WAS QUITE RUDE TO DEAL WITH. NOT THE WARMEST "PUT THE CUSTOMER FIRST AND MAKE THEM FEEL WELCOME" ATTITUDE. I HAVE TRAVELED EXTENSIVELY,N.Y, SAN FRANSISCO, DALLAS, SEATTLE, PARIS, LONDON, ROME, ETC AND ENJOYED SOME GREAT FOOD. MAYBE I HAD HIGHER EXPECTATIONS FOR AN ENGLISHMAN OWNED RESTAURANT IN WINSLOW, AZ.

You know, it seems as though nothing at all would please you. I read your review as well as the others and decided to give the place a try. This person giving the review was way off base. The whole experience was out of this world. Besides the beautiful hotel and decor, the food was amazing. Service was exceptional, very friendly and professional without an artificial sense that you get at some upscale restaurants. I give the place 5 stars and recommend it to anyone passing through Winslow.

One star out of five? Man, what place did you eat at as it sure wasn't the Turquoise Room. I'd give it three out of five starts and I've eaten there over six times.

A great spot for an enjoyable meal! Chef John has brought the elegance of fine dining to a warm, casual atmosphere. I have a favorite table by the window so I can watch the trains pass. My all time favorite is the bread pudding! Ingredients vary with the season- sometimes including quince from trees on the grounds. The Turquoise Room is within the La Posada, but is a separate business.

Leave time for a stroll around the hotel- it is an old Harvey House and was a favorite stop for presidents and movie stars.

I have been disappointed in the La Posada shop- they have a lot of stuff from Portugal and Nigeria. They have Southwest design rugs with a sign that they are "Authentic Indian Made Rugs- Made in India"! At least they tell you, but considering the high quality of the La Posada, I am surprised at this. Also, some of their pottery is kiln fired rather than traditionally fired.

Well worth the drive...: from Flagstaff, the Tourquoise Room offers what Flagstaff doesn't...excellent food, good if not great service and a piece of history all rolled into one. Enjoyed the filet mignon just last night and it was wonderful. Southwestern flavors abound and the old hotel is a near perfect setting. Make sure you walk around a bit before or after dinner. Reservations are nearly a must on the weekend, dress is generally dressy casual. Expect to pay $65 for dinner for two not including alcohol and gratuity. Definitely a place to take out of town guests. Oh yes,...remember to go stand on the 'corner' !
