I live three and a half hours southeast of Albuquerque and we often travel up there for pleasure. We always go to Shogun (been there at least 10 times in 4 yrs) that's up further on Central ave. For once, we wanted to try a new sushi place. With all the wonderful reviews that Sushi King got, we decided to go there today. The service was wonderful! We got our food quickly in a timely manner. I ordered Shrimp tempura udon noodles and the Monkey Ball. They were so delicous! But the other items, which were all sushi, was awful. The sushi rice was too mushy, too soft. too sweet. With sushi, the rice is very important. The fillings were ok, but the sauces, like the eel sauce, was too sweet. My #1 rule to sushi is to eat everything that we order. This time at Sushi King, we didn't eat half our order. We didn't even take it to go! I am a sushi fanatic! Everywhere i go, like to Hawaii, Japan, Guam and big cities here stateside, I have to try a new sushi restaurant. I have to say sushi wise, Sushi King ranked the lowest. If you want good sushi, TRUST me, go to Shogun up further Central Ave. I always left satisfied with my plates empty. I give it 3 stars because everything besides the sushi was good.
This is by far the best Sushi that I have had in Albuquerque, and by extent, anywhere else. My hubby and I love the New Mexico roll. It's awesome!!!
I Have lived in 7 different states, traveled but I have not found better Sushi than "Sushi King's" not even in my wild dreams would have I ever thought I would find the best Sushi I have ever tasted in Albuquerque, NM. My Favorite dishes are the Monkey Balls & the Alaskan Sushi, OMG!! they are awesome, the service is excellent & most of the time packed due to the awesome food. They have a new location that I have not tried yet but is n Coors before Cotton Wood Mall coming from Paseo del Norte to the Right.
