Truly the best restaurant experience ever! The food was superb, the staff perfectly attentive, and the atmosphere ideal. They made our 10th anniversary dinner incredibly special.
WONDERFUL! Everything from the drinks, to the wine to the food was amazing! We loved the building and especially the patio out front! My cucumber jalapeno margarita was the best I have ever had in my life! We loved the whole fried fish, it looked and tasted great. The doughnut plate for dessert was to die for! We will definitely be returning customers, the service was very friendly and everyone was really nice, saying hello and goodbye as we walked by.
Wonderful. Simply wonderful! The energy of this place, it's thick adobe walls, 300-year history and tales of the sleeping dead buried inside them wafts through the rooms along with the smell of fabulous food. The original church has been carefully refurbished by the current owners who put an extraordinary amount of effort into maintaining its feel. The fireplaces, vigas and the intimacy of each room accented by local artists' paintings come together to create a calming, friendly dining experience--totally unpretentious, yet attentive and personal. The undulating pathways of patio dining are safely ensconced inside further adobe walls that are enhanced by excellent garden art, brilliant color where appropriate and a vine covered patio to come.
The bar has an excellent stock of liquors and the bartenders understand exactly what makes a great drink perfect. Casa Vieja offers their own flavored vodkas and tequilas made in house as well as a vast array of name brands to suit every taste. The business is also environmentally conscious recycling waste and using local produce whenever possible. Thus, no stock menu without changes to explore.
But the FOOD! Excellent, wonderful can't say enough good about it. Everything I've eaten has been perfectly and exquisitely prepared from the simplest burger with fresh-cut fries to the Sunday brunch. Josh, the chef and co-proprietor understand food and attention to detail in it's preparation. I can only expect it to get better with he and his wife as on-site owners watching over the excellent staff who are friendly, helpful, service oriented and simply amazing. Frankly, it's so good, I hesitated to write this review for fear it will be overrun with people next week! Plus, it's affordable and the portions are generous.
