I've gone to Sadie's a couple of times now since moving to NM. I flat out love the chips and salsa, and their ground beef, whether in a taco or a burrito, has an excellent texture and flavor. But, to me, those plusses are negated by the inattention to things as basic as making sure the taco shells are not soggy or torn. Or, making sure the beans aren't too greasy. Or, having a server come by your table maybe once between ordering and serving. That might be a good idea for a restaurant to do. It's almost like being ignored on purpose. It seems like one would have to go out of the way to NOT pass by a table in an assigned area. Maybe that's what they're going for: sort of a 'salsa-nazi-seinfeld' thing?
It really boggled my mind when I couldn't order rice. Have you ever heard of a mexican restaurant that will not serve rice? Instead, without warning, your meal comes with diced potatoes. You know, like Denny's breakfast potatoes. For dinner. Or lunch. Or whatever. It's a weird deal and I tried to like 'em, but can't. I want my freakin mexican rice at a mexican restaurant. Is that too much to ask for those prices? But, I digress.
I'll go back for the chips and salsa, but for actual mexi food I like Compadres and El Modelo way more.
One of New Mexico's finest retaurants. Always buisy for lunch but they know how to deal with a croud. In my opinon the combo plate of the lunch menu is their best thing to order.
Being from out of state (AZ) I was in the mood for some good New Mexico heat. We went with some friends who said the place came highly recommended. The food was inexpensive and very good. I ordered a la cart, and I'm still wondering what the full dinner included compared to the a la carte for about twice the price. We had plenty of food, so I'm glad I only ordered the a la carte. The salsa was excellent. A full notch hotter than any I've found in AZ and very flavorful. A bit salty, which was great for me, as I consider salt a food group unto itself. The atmosphere was a bit plain, but hadn't come for the atmosphere so I didn't mind. The atmosphere is the only reason I didn't give it five stars. If I had read the other reviews before coming, I might not have wanted to go, but I liked it enough make a point to write this review after the fact. Our service was excellent, no easy task keeping three adults and five very hungry kids happy.
