I recently converted to shopping at Clark's from Petsmart due to the great service alone. I now frequent the Menaul location on a weekly basis to purchase my fish and dog supplies. The manager, Alan, is a delight. He is always in a great mood and very knowledgeable. I consider myself a regular now, and am happy to support this local business.

Unfortunately my experience today (September 27, 2009) was horrible. I went in about 15 minutes after opening. I was looking to purchase some saltwater fish. Still half the fish lights were still turned off. After 10 minutes or so of waiting and browsing the lights that were on I asked the worker by the name of Alan if he knew about fish. He replied no but he could get someone back there in a few minutes then walked off. I started to exit the building and he commented about me not having enough patience. I felt that this was rude so I went back in to get Alan's name and the owners number which I will be contacting soon. I stated that he was rude and I was the customer. When he ran out things to say to try to cover himself, he started the "Have a nice day" in the sarcastic tone routine and I said I would never be shopping there and he said, oh good have a nice day again, or something to that effect.

I happened to be in the store on this day. The lights were not turned on in MOST of the store, because PNM was having power failure. I also came in looking for some fish, and Alan nicely explained to me that the fish were unable to be sold at that time, due to the power outage. I understood. You know what? Things happen. I also find it hard to believe that he could be rude to ANYONE...as he is always a sweetheart any time I go into the store. Perhaps you just mistook it as sarcasm...because you were grumpy that you could not get your fish ? Life is too short. I will keep shopping at Clark's...because I hate to break it to ya...the customer service at the corporate pet chains is non-existent.
